A consultation before a number
Michael comes out and looks at the job himself rather than quoting off a plan set he has not walked. That is how a number stays honest once the work starts.
Have the lot, the rough size of what you want, and whether you are financing ready to talk through when he gets there. It is a short list, and it is what moves the consultation into a real quote.

What inception to completion actually covers
Site work first, then the foundation, whether that is a slab or pilings. Framing, dry-in, roof, exterior, then interior and trim, and finally handover.
It is a long list of trades, and the point of hiring one contractor for the whole run is that you deal with one phone number for all of it.
